He did not have to note any corrective actions. Instead, the auditor of the Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Zertifizierung von Managementsystemen (DQS) was not reluctant in complimenting the Celonic staff. Reviewing the list of standard operating procedures (SOP), the auditor wrote down: “The SOP updating demonstrates a central element of continuous improvement as following from the review. Here, the improvements which are induced by members of the staff or by project development become manifest.” Therewith, the auditor addressed a topic that is given top priority at Celonic – the continuous improvement. “The auditor grilled us until late evening. Nevertheless, he did not detect any discrepancy. We can really take pride in what we have achieved”, explains Andreas Herrmann, managing director of Celonic.

Concerning the business unit GLP analytics, that is more and more dominating the activities of the Juelich facility, the auditor had some constructive suggestions. Especially process audits are a future favourable tool here. “Of course we are under the control of the state authorities in GLP, but we are grateful for any helpful ideas from the ISO system”, comments Matthias Mann, head of quality assurance at Celonic in Juelich.
