Inception:
Celonic was founded as spin-off from the Institute of Biotechnology (chair: Prof. Wandrey) at Research Center Jülich. It was the first spin-off from the Research Center which counts to the largest scientific Centers in Europe. The company started with the business units construction and sales of fluidised bed bioreactors, services for the production of recombinant proteins and upstream process development.
